COSTA BRAVA
The Costa Brava encompasses the province of Catalunya in Spain’s north east, and is stretched below the Pyrenees on the shores of the Mediterranean. In addition to the picture perfect coastline, the region is home to not only the town of Girona, but also the majestic city of Barcelona.
There are two reasons why the Costa Brava is among Europe’s fastest growing destinations: the region’s micro-climate ensures that it remains dry and warm for much of the year; secondly, the Costa Brava boasts four courses ranked inside the continent’s top 50, and a further 3 that have been chosen to host European Tour events. PGA Golf de Catalunya and Emporda both feature in the list of Spain’s top 10, underlining that Spanish golf is not necessarily focused on the south.
In accommodation terms, golfers can choose to base themselves at comprehensive resorts like Emporda, or first class private hotels of the quality of the Aigua Blava. Nearer Barcelona, the new El Montanya resort is a welcome addition, offering delightful accommodation and golf on site.
The region is packed with character, as diverse cultures from across the two borders clash with amazing results. Another advantage of the Costa Brava is that it is easily accessible from the United Kingdom thanks to relatively short low cost flights, giving you no excuse to miss out on Spain’s newest golf holiday hot spot.
